Notice of Public Meeting
Dear Parents,
As you may be aware, special education laws in the State of Illinois continue to evolve. In order to remain in compliance with the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), Gurnee School District 56 will be holding an informational meeting for parents of St. Patrick’s School students who currently receive speech services, Response to Intervention (RtI), or support through a Section 504 Plan. Rachel Solomon, Director of Pupil Services for Gurnee School District 56, will facilitate the meeting to discuss the district’s responsibilities under IDEA, including the allocation of federal funding and the proposed use of these funds for the 2025â€"2026 school year. The meeting will take place virtually on May 21, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. To receive the meeting link and calendar invitation, please contact Rachel Solomon at rsolomon@d56.org. Please note that IDEA requires public school districts to consult with private school representatives and parents prior to the distribution of federal funds. Accordingly, services for eligible St. Patrick’s students will commence after the funds have been received by Gurnee School District 56. We hope you will be able to attend this important meeting.
