LEGAL NOTICE: NOTICE OF INTENT TO ERECT VETERANS MEMORIAL MONUMENTS
AND CALL FOR DESCENDANTS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Dundee-Carpentersville American Legion Post 679 intends to construct, erect, and permanently dedicate three (3) individual commemorative historical monuments at Triangle Park, located at the intersection of Main Street and Washington Street, Carpentersville, Illinois.
These monuments are to honor the following United States Veterans who were Killed in Action during the Vietnam War:
1. SP.4 Edward Charles Beck
2. SP.5 Andrew Morley Bordes
3. SCF. Tommy Mike McCleer
The proposed monuments will be placed adjacent to the existing monument dedicated to SP.4 Stephen Philip Mitchell.
NOTICE TO NEXT OF KIN AND INTERESTED PARTIES: The American Legion Post 679 has made diligent, good-faith efforts to locate and contact the immediate family members, descendants, or legal representatives of the aforementioned veterans. Any family members, legal heirs, or individuals possessing a lawful interest in the names or estates of these veterans who object to the erection of these monuments, or who wish to provide input regarding the inscriptions, must contact the Post in writing.
OBJECTION DEADLINE: All inquiries, claims, or formal objections must be submitted in writing via certified mail or email to the contact below no later than August 20, 2026.
If no lawful objections or claims are received by 5:00 PM on said date, it shall be legally presumed that no objections exist. The Dundee-Carpentersville American Legion Post 679 will proceed with construction, installation, and final dedication, and all future claims or objections regarding these monuments shall be deemed waived.
