ANNUAL PUBLICATION OF NOTICE
VILLAGE OF GLEN ELLYN WEED ORDINANCE
As required by the Village Code, a notice setting forth the provisions of the Weed Control Code of Glen Ellyn shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Village.
TITLE 7, CHAPTER 12: WEED CONTROL CODE
Section 7-12-3: GROWTH OF WEEDS OVER CERTAIN HEIGHT PROHIBITED:
Every owner of property within the Village shall cut, chemically treat or otherwise destroy the weeds on his property at all times necessary to prevent the weeds from exceeding eight inches (8").
Section 7-12-4: VILLAGEâS RIGHT TO DESTROY OVERGROWN WEEDS:
If any owner neglects or refuses to cut, chemically treat or otherwise destroy the weeds on his property, the Village may do so, or contract with any other person to perform the services under the authority of the Village.
Section 7-12-5: COLLECTION OF EXPENSES FROM PROPERTY OWNERS:
If any property owner neglects or refuses to cut, chemically treat or otherwise destroy the weeds on his property and the Village has elected to do so under the provisions of this Chapter, then the owner shall pay to the Village its expenses incurred in cutting or destroying the weeds, including a reasonable amount for services performed by Village employees or for use of Village equipment. If any owner fails or refuses to reimburse the Village for expenses incurred, including reasonable administrative costs in destroying weeds on the ownerâs property, the Village may collect such amount in an action at law.
Section 7-12-6: ANNUAL PUBLICATION OF NOTICE:
This publication shall be undertaken one time, and no further notice shall be required before the Village may undertake any weed cutting or destruction, if necessary, following the publication of the notice.
