The Village of Skokie (IL) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time Engineering Technician.
Â
Working with and supporting a team of dedicated and highly talented traffic and civil engineering professionals in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, this position, under general direction, performs technical civil and traffic engineering work of moderate difficulty; Aids in the design & field inspection of civil & traffic engineering projects, including street resurfacing, water mains, sewers & sidewalks; Duties include operation of surveying equipment, use of AutoCad for engineering plan preparation, conducting speed studies and traffic counts; Prepares quantities for preliminary cost estimates for water, sewer, streets, alleys, and other public improvements; Researches documents and historical information & maintains records; Interacts with residents regarding engineering projects and related matters; Must be able to foster and maintain positive professional relationships with other engineering and surveying personnel, internal departments, contractors, and the public; Performs other work-related duties, as assigned. Duties may vary by season. Must follow all safety rules of the Village.

High school diploma required; Completion of college course work desired, Engineering or related studies preferred; Three years’ experience in sub-professional civil or traffic engineering, or combination of training & experience; Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry and its application to field surveying & engineering computations; Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Use of AutoCad, GIS, and relevant surveying applications; Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite applications; Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. The hourly pay range for this position is $39.5173 - $51.6961. The starting hourly pay range is $39.5173 - $43.5678 (DOQ).
