The Village of Skokie, IL, is currently seeking qualified candidates who are interested in pursuing a rewarding and challenging career as a Superintendent in our Public Works Dept. As a key member of a very busy and dynamic team, and under general direction of the Public Works Director and Asst. Director, the Superintendent oversees and manages daily operations of the Refuse Collection and Streets & Alleys divisions, as well as Foresters, Grounds & Landscaping, and Traffic Engineering Maintenance Workers; Works with supervisors to ensure Division goals & objectives are being met; Manages Village safety policies; Responds to the needs and/or concerns of the community; Conducts employee performance evaluation; Assists with division recruitment efforts; Manages schedules and workflow; Prepares budget requests; Conducts training sessions on equipment and safety; Manages & supervises snow removal operations; Attends & supports special events; Performs other work related duties, as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree desired; Valid CDL required; Minimum four years supervisory experience in a governmental / public sector environment required; Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to foster positive, productive professional relationships with colleagues, Village officials, and the public; Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with basic computer skills; Must follow all safety rules of the Village.

The annual salary range for this position is $126,379 - $161,295. The annualized starting salary range is $126,379 - $139,133 (DOQ). Generous benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, & life insurance; IMRF retirement pension plan; paid vacation days, sick days, and holidays in the first year; 457(b) retirement savings plan.
